Originally built at Camper & Nicholson in 1937 for Sir Thomas Sopwith, and used in WWII as a convoy escort vessel, NORGE was purchased by the people of Norway for King Haakon who took it over in 1948. Following a serious fire in 1985 the yacht was refitted under King Olav. In 1991 the yacht was taken over by King Harald who also competes in international yacht races with his yachts named FRAM. The photos on this page are from the Breitling Medcup 2006 which the King took part in with his TP52 class racing sloop FRAM XVI.
