It is alleged that the
yacht was purchased from Stavros Niarchos by John
Latsis and given as a gift to Crown Prince Fahd
of Saudi Arabia. Niarchos had an almost exact copy
of the yacht built at Hellenic Shipyards in 1981
which became ATLANTIS II. A third yacht was commissioned
but Niarchos died before it was completed and the
hull is understood to still remain in Greece. ATLANTIS II is usually
at Port Hercule in Monaco and is still used by the
Niarchos family.
ISSHAM AL BAHER spent most of her recent years moored at Lavrion, Greece although with periodic visits to Lamda Shipyards. She seemed to be rather forgotten until end of Jul/05 when she visited Nice and Monaco at around the time of the death of King Fahd.
During summer 2007 she moved to the Public Power Corporation terminal in Drapetsona and as shown in these photos was placed under refit. |
