A bit different from what we normally publish but this yacht's situation is of interest to spotters. The hull that you see in the photos is the hull of Saudi Royal Yacht AL RIYADH. She was under refit at Lamda Shipyards (then Ifaistos Shipyards) during January 2004 when on 10/Jan/04 there was a fire on board during the repairs. Despite the efforts of the Fire Brigade the fire became serious and the accommodation of the yacht sustained major damages. The yacht remained at the yard with no further works happening while the insurance claim was progressing. In Oct/04 it was reported that the insurers were rejecting the claim for the fire damage. It is unknown what happened regarding that but now we see that the superstructure of the yacht and perhaps more has been cropped and removed. Therefore we can assume that the yacht will be maybe completely refit to her old glory! Well it seems a better chance than unlikey now.
